Those leg moves were possible only due to joint hypermobility

pictures of his fingers show them hyper-extending too.

Presley had his bedroom and any motels rooms he stayed in darkened (windows fully blacked out - covered in foil) and chilled to "meat locker cold" temperatures of about 16 degrees Celcius

When he sunbathed by his pool at Graceland he did so with an electric fan on him, a bag of ice on to of him and a jug of iced water close to hand.  So heat intolerance looks likely....a typical symptom of POTS.

Collapsed suddenly after coming off stage one night (aged about 18 - 20)  No explanation was ever found for this brief episode  loss of consciousness  - in later years he had a few falls and had to be closely supervised at all times.

smooth velvety skin

Highly talented singer and musician

Lived a totally nocturnal lifestyle - rose at about 4 pm each day.

Presley was a smoker - of cigars usually but also cigarettes
He smoked and was constantly surrounded by several heavy smokers.
Nicotine is a stimulant and ? vasoconstrictor - did not drink alcohol ( vasodilator).

His mother Gladys used snuff (finely ground tobacco) All her life starting at least as a teenager
As would have been common then in the USA.
Nash 2010 P 3.

Lived a fairly reclusive lifestyle

Was always keen to invite women and girls into his bedroom rather than going out or even sitting up - even on a first date where he would often give them a pair of pyjamas to change into. Once there he would often just talk to them ( sex was not his main motivation for doing this)  - motivation rather was to lie down to alleviate POTS symptoms?

Presley tragically died at the young age of 42

His mother Gladys Presley sadly  died aged 46 rather unexpectedly and after several years of lethargy and illness that ay have been misdiagnosed. Gladys's father died suddenly from pneumonia in 1931 when she was in her late teens.

Autopsy showed Presley had several enlarged organs.

His bedroom is dark and quiet with heavy curtains that muffle the noise. Day and night.

He's visibly Bendy:  there are pictures of him with a hyperextending finger
And you can see his ankles in early dance sequences like jailhouse rock and his early hip wiggling incidents as clearly HyperMobile. He has hitchhiker thumbs

ALLERGIES
He was allergic to codeine which caused him to break out in a rash whenever he took it

Eye problems.

He suffered from iritis and later glaucoma. As well as possibly some conjunctivitis.

he required reading glasses Before he was 35.

TEETH

His original teeth show evidence of dental crowding ....he had work done when he was in his late teens Or early 20s

He seems to have had a slight kyphosis at the top of his chest - this is visible in photos where he is shirtless.

He lived a nocturnal lifestyle arising from sleep at about 4 PM most days

From the age of about 25 on he took amphetamines and other drugs are present downers every day of his life.
Drugs to get up drugs to go to sleep....

He suffered from insomnia all his life even as a child.

His grandmother, Gladys's mother Lucy Had the nickname of Doll  for the slim frame, porcelain skin over face and small features

She married her first cousin Bob....(Whose father was ? Dove White, a Cherokee of the full descent.

" Doll's  illness rarely allowed her to leave her bed, But she [ruled?] the family with her sickness.

.... When the Smiths moved, As they often did ...""She would be carefully carried on a trailer in a supine position like a priceless artefact in a travelling exhibit""
citation from
The inner by Elvis by Peter O Whitmer.

The book I'm reading about it now baby let's playhouse the life of is Elvis Presley to the women he loved him by Alanna Nash
Says that Doll  had "been diagnosed with tuberculosis as a child.    ?

Gladys's sister Lillian Reported Gladys to always be "lazy as a hog" And shirking her housework but she could rise to the occasion'.

I wrote above that Elvis had a bent distal  little finger joint on his right hand  - a clinodactyly - I have since read that he actually broke this finger in an accident so it may not be a clinodacdylty that I saw but a broken finger that remained bent due to trauma.
He also broke an arm in a cycling accident at about 11 years old. So a little bit accident - prone?)

TWINS

Presley had a twin -  Jessie -  who was apparently stillborn.

(So twin-to twin transfusion syndrome is a possibility.)

His daughter Lisa Marie also gave birth to twins.

Marfan's Habitus

Presley's ?granddaughter is a model and has therefore likely Marfan's habitus as that is a common build required ot be a clothing model in current trends. Castori notes that Marfan's habitus is associated with EDS.

(Riley Keough  is 170 cm tall at age 15 so Marfan Habitus is still a possibility.)

Elvis Presley also had a very long neck - something often seen in Marfan Syndrome apparently - that was likely the reason why he usually wore high necklines and collars and THOSE collars on his suits.

Pectus excavatum

This is quite pronounced if you see a topless photo of Elvis particular on a profile

For this reason apparently he did not do many topless shots;
: there only one or two Out of the many thousands of photos taken of him

The most revealing one is when he was lining up for his medical examination before going into the army.
The prctus excavatum Is fairly Noticeable in that photo

Scoliosis. Pectus excavatum  and pectus carinatum  are quite common in EDS As is kyphosis

Elvis

Never drank alcohol. HIs mother did to excess in later years

Alka Zeltza is visible in pictures on his bathroom bench -  it contains sodium bicarbonate (ant-acid) and aspirin and something else.
Probably indicates that Elvis had GERD

Born Jan 8 1935

the following points are exerpted from the Peter Guralnick biog of Elvis called "Careless love"

Elvis

In Germany he is being supplied with pills which give him energy By one of the  sergeants (page 21)

Elvis was practically evangelical about their  benefits.
Amphetamines that he would take with coffee because the hot coffee and caffeine would make the pill work a lot quicker.
He was also concerned about keeping down his weight and thought they helped  that too.
He bought four quart- size bottles of Amphetamines from the post dispensary

Fairly  reclusive and kept to himself with his small coterie. Not into Hollywood scene or social gatherings like parties etc.

New book

the following points are exerpted from:

The Death of Elvis

When he arrived at  a hotel he would have Aluminium foil put  on his windows and the air conditioning down to nearly 60°F which is nearly 15°C.

He was allergic to codeine and I broke out in a rash according to Linda his girlfriend.

His doctors continue to prescribe him codeine even though he was allergic to it.

(It is salient to remember that allergies were often not taken serioulsy in those days - [as late a 1974 many doctors often thought people with allergies were malingerers or oddiballs - dotors had not made the connection with anaphylaxis and other serious and debilitating  issues that go along with allergies]

INSOMNIA

P334.  He always suffered from insomnia even as a child.

P363.  One of his medications on the list from Dr Nichopoulis
Is medications for dizziness.

And also one is a is medication for vertigo.

He was given a laxative every night.
( the meds he was on may have constipated him which may have masked IBS or fructose malabsorption - if he was ever tested for coeliac - it is never mentioned - Routine screening for coeliac was not common then.

P392

Elvis dies aged 42 - possibly from a valsova manoeuvre while straining at stool. Impacted bowel

Anaphylactic shock

P397
Elvis Had Alpha-1 anti-trypsin deficiency from one parents
(this condition would affect the lungs)

P 398
Codeine allergy.
Dr gave him codeine by accident. Dr Nick. 4 am phone call.

......................................................................................

the following points are exerpted from

Alanna NASH 2010
Baby let's play house.

Gladys  takes diet pills and drinks heavily. P 136.

(Diet pills were commonly take in these days - another person who took them was Maria Callas - who also died young and unexpectedly - their dangers were not recognised or were ignored then.)

She eats onions to disguise the alcohol on her breath apparently.

Diet pills are or contain  Amphetamines

Elvis drinks Coke regularly  (which is high in both caffeine and sugar - tehis combo is very effective for treating POTS)
By p136

By 1956. When they move to Audubon drive
Gladys is  often run down and her feet swell due to kidney problems

She had black circles under her eyes ( this can be an indicator of Vascular type Ehlers- Danlos Syndrome)

P
137. Vernon was nearly a nonparticipant in the household

P156. Elvis disliked flying and rarely went in planes  - he drove to most his gigs

(Flying will exacerbate POTS - see section in this forum under EDS on flying)

P157 wart on his right wrist removed  in 1958

P193. Coffee and coke was about all Elvis drank
He also took No-Doz (caffeine tablets).  about 21 yo. c1956.

P195. Vernon had never worked he had a " bad back"
by 1956 both Vernon and Gladys are drinking heavily.

January 1957 Gladys goes into hospital for tests as doctors try to find the cause of the abnormally dark circles around her eyes.
P216

P228. Elvis Has a skin infection on the shoulder and another Staph infection Called a carbuncle on his abdomen that needs to be lanced.

P 367
He has a bar full of Pepsi in his Gold-dusted Cadillac car.

P373

Minnie Mae,   aka Dodger....Elvis's grandma wears dark glasses indoors to keep out the light. Circa 1963 (photophobia)

She also dips snuff Constantly as did Gladys.

[ Snuff is ground tobacco  - nicotine is a stimulant and vasoconstrictor so will help the symptoms of POTS

Priscilla's Christmas gift to Elvis is a three tiered wooden box for his cigarillos

P454. After making 'Live a little love a little".

He takes season-ending to Arizona in a Learjet. Later that would be a trip to Vegas
"Because he was married, and because he was Elvis, they largely stayed in the room especially in Arizona. "

Page 469
Many of his family members die young at about 46 Including his mother

P491
He tells Kathy Westmoreand that all his family dies young and that he will die at 42.

P 537

In October 2 days after the divorce decree was finalised... Elvis had trouble breathing.
He and Linda flew home to Memphis on a chartered jet but on the plane a worried Linda watched as his breathing grew even more laboured despite constant administration of oxygen.

P 540

Elvis had degenerative arthritis in his neck and lower back
So his doctor asked him to Certain songs and Gyorations out of his  show.

544
Elvis suffered from ysphagia. He frequently choked on his food.

545
He very rarely drank alcohol (alcohol is a vasodilator so will exacerbate POTS)

564

He had regular shots of vitamin B12 In the backside

566

He was extremely irritable and short tempered. (Eg TV shootings)
(Lack of oxygen to the brain will do this to you )

567. Again he has trouble breathing on a plane on the way to Las Vegas and it had to make a forced landing to allow him to recuperate in Dallas

[sidenote:
In the clips on TV I noticed that Elvis  doesn't standstill when he's standing as other people have commented on ( fidgets and moves around constantly)

And also that he appears to be very short of breath after a song

567
Shows are cancelled when he's hospitalised again
Problems include general fatigue

Elvis' Fingers seem to taper to a point somewhat in the same manner as Elizabeth Taylor' did

So this article is pertinent and interesting
Link to full article:

I'm not sure if this is already in the notes above

but I found this cache  of notes from another Elvis biography and I'm adding it in here in case it has been omitted above

Apologies if it is a duplicate

I have brain fog  today so I'm not up to checking.

And I would rather have it here twice then not have it here at all.

We are about to change the status of the Elvis Presley Facebook group to a public group from the closed group that is currently is

If any family members or relatives have objections to that please let us know by contacting us via the Facebook group

Our hearts goes out to Port Elvis for the pain suffering and distress he must've suffered from these terrible illnesses ... Complicated by the fact that nobody understood them or diagnose him or gave him any satisfactory treatment all his life.

Had doctors recognised his conditions and diagnosed him he might still be alive today
 Our deepest sympathies.
